MVHR — Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery — is a whole-house ventilation system that simultaneously extracts stale air from wet rooms and supplies fresh filtered air to living areas. As the two air streams pass through the heat exchanger in the central unit, up to 90% of the warmth from the outgoing stale air is transferred to the incoming fresh air — so you get fresh, filtered air without losing heat.
MVHR is the ventilation strategy of choice for new builds and high-performance homes. It meets Building Regulations Part F requirements for controlled ventilation, eliminates condensation and mould caused by poor air quality, and reduces the energy needed to heat incoming fresh air throughout winter.
